Everyone Has Triceps.

Galatians 5:22-23... But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Self control is a fruit of the spirit. If you have the Holy Spirit, you have that fruit. If you can't see it, it's because you haven't developed it. If you can't see your triceps, it's because you haven't developed them - not because they don't exist.

"Exercising" self control is just that: exerting what is already in order to create a stimulus for growth.

Just as your muscles get stronger, this inner force of self control will gain strength as you use it. 20 lb biceps curls used to be difficult. Now, because I used those muscles specifically for curls, I can curl 20 and hardly feel it. As I exert my self control muscles in the area of food choices, it becomes easier and easier to curb overindulgence.

2 Timothy 1:7...

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.
