(RESULT: My kid has a bottle of homemade alcohol free sanitizer in his desk, the teachers were happy to cooperate, and my son’s immune system isn't being slowly wiped out by harsh chemicals and hyper-sanitization.)
Dear {teachers}:
I would like to request that {kid} be excused from using hand sanitizer.
One of the most important things to ensure a strong immune system is allowing the beneficial bacteria in the body to diversify and thrive. He was a c-section baby, and thus this is especially important for him specifically.
There are studies coming out now that even quick exposure to hand sanitizer and other skin products that open the pores increase BPA absorption by as much as 185x, opening up the body to a host of new problems (including very serious metabolic, developmental, and reproductive diseases) that aren’t directly from the sanitizer itself.
Due to the above, as well as known harmful (immune, gut, endocrine) effects of over-sanitization, untested ingredients in many brands of sanitizer, and in some cases, proven toxic ingredients, as well as the yet-unknown future consequences of hyper-sanitizing our culture, we don’t want {kid} using sanitizer.
He can either do nothing, wash his hands with regular (not antibacterial) soap and water a few extra times a day, or if you need me to, I’m happy to provide a natural alternative to chemical sanitizer that he can keep in his desk. Please let me know!
Thank you! 😍
